Before and after
Brooke Kylie Kuresa is a proud young Samoan European woman and a special member of the Kuresa aiga. A humble, outgoing and loving person, Brooke gained a lot of academic success at Victoria University and served the Porirua community through various events and festivals.
In 2023, Brooke fell into deep depression and suffered mental health issues, which drove her to take her life in June 2023. This event is being led by her family to honour her and raise awareness on mental health and suicide in Porirua and the wider community.
Keynote speakers will talk about their experiences and roles in supporting individuals and families going through what Brooke went through. Close friends and family will also share their experience of life after suicide and, more importantly, the journey they face ahead.
Through this event, the family hopes to help people in recognising signs and symptoms, accessing support networks, and making a change before things spiral out of control.
This is an opportunity for people to unite and celebrate a beautiful young person who actively contributed to her community and family.
